Accounting & Tax Compliance in Romania
We take over the full accounting function of your Romanian company: recording documents, preparing the trial balance, calculating taxes and submitting every statutory filing to ANAF, correctly and on time.
The service is designed for companies that need Romanian compliance handled properly without building an in-house finance team here — typically subsidiaries of foreign groups, and Romanian companies with foreign shareholders.
What is included
Bookkeeping
Recording of all documents: sales and purchase invoices, bank statements, expense reports and the statutory registers required by Romanian law.
Tax filings
Preparation and submission of all ANAF returns: VAT (D300), domestic transactions (D394), corporate income tax or micro-company tax, and local taxes.
RO e-Factura
Compliance with the national electronic invoicing system, mandatory for business-to-business transactions in Romania.
SAF-T (D406)
Preparation and submission of the Standard Audit File for Tax, in the structure and at the frequency required for your company category.
Monthly reporting
Trial balance plus a plain-English summary: revenue, expenses, result, taxes payable and the deadlines coming up.
Annual financial statements
Balance sheet, profit and loss account and explanatory notes, prepared and filed within the statutory deadline.
Reporting your Romanian subsidiary to head office
Romanian statutory accounts follow local reporting rules, which rarely match a group reporting package. We deliver the statutory set as required by law and, where needed, a reconciliation to the format your head office actually uses — so the local figures and the consolidated figures agree.
We can also work alongside your group auditor, providing the schedules and supporting documents they request, in English.
Documents we need to start
- Certificate of registration (CUI) and the articles of association
- The trial balance and filings to date, if the company already trades
- Sales and purchase invoices, bank statements
- Relevant contracts: registered office, employees, service providers
- Access to, or a power of attorney for, the ANAF electronic portal (SPV)
Frequently asked questions
Is bookkeeping in Romania mandatory in Romanian?
Yes. Romanian accounting records and statutory filings must be kept in Romanian and in the national currency. Your internal reporting can of course be in English and in any currency, which is exactly what we provide alongside the statutory set.
What is a micro-company and does it apply to us?
Romania applies a turnover-based tax regime for smaller companies, subject to revenue thresholds and conditions such as having at least one employee. Whether it is advantageous depends on your margin: it taxes revenue, not profit. We calculate both scenarios on your figures before you decide.
Do you handle VAT registration?
Yes, including registration for intra-Community transactions and the related reporting obligations. Thresholds and conditions change periodically, so we confirm the current position for your specific case.
